Postdoctoral Working Station (PWS) for Risk Management

Postdoctoral Working Station (PWS) for Risk Management is a division of the RiskLab at the University of Toronto. Its function is to provide PDF research training programmes according to The University Policies for Post-Doctoral Fellows and the accompanying Administrative Procedures for Engagement of Post-Doctoral Fellows. This usually consists of one year period of focused PDF level research, carried out under the supervision of a PDF supervisor.

Apply

Applications are usually invited from candidates who recently accomplished their PhD study to join PWS. PDFs who successfully complete their engagement may request a certificate signed by the Dean of Graduate Studies, Vice-Provost Graduate Education and their supervisor.
Details of the application process and how to apply are available in more detail here.

Chinese Association of Postdocs and Scholars (CAOPS) PRC Program

According to the Letter of Understanding(LoU) signed between School of Graduate Studies, University of Toronto, and the Chinese Association of Postdocs and Scholars (CAOPS, http://www.caops.org), a branch of CAOPS at University of Toronto is being formed. CAOPS PRC Program is to help provide PDF research training programmes for various potential Chinese candidates. CAOPS PRC and RiskLab have established a strong collaboration in two main areas: talent exchange and academic exchange.

This collaboration follows the framework of LoU signed between School of Graduate Studies, University of Toronto, and the Chinese Association of Postdocs and Scholars (CAOPS).

Research activity
The bulk of the time is spent carrying out focused research under the supervision of a leading expert or experts. It is an essential part of research training that the PDFs interact with the supervisors, participate in their research group activities, and ultimately give presentations at international conferences and workshops associated with their research area.
All PDFs at the end of training year give oral presentations of their research paper(s) that have been accomplished.
